I'm a sound and visual designer from Melbourne, Australia. I have been recording and releasing music under various names for over twenty years, in many different genres, including IDM, techno, ambient, progressive synth, metal and everything in between.

My channel has been a bit quiet lately. That's because I've been working on this little interactive project, called Bounce. It's a "sequencer" where you launch balls at barriers to make melodies. I know this is super random. But is there any way I could place one last order for a diffuser if you have any lying around? I just bought one on reverb the other day haha.
Sorry, I've decided to stop making them since they weren't easy for me to keep making and posting internationally, and because Oliver abandoned the project in favour if the new (TBC) version. I've made the design public on Tinkercad though, so if you want to print your own, it's available here: www.tinkercad.com/things/jdGZYf92baV-nanoloop-frame-16 If you have a makerspace in your city (check your local libraries!) you should be able to make one for free or very low cost.

i've read that this particular patch would fit on a micro modular dsp-wise since it uses just one of the 4 slots on the G1, is that true?
Yep! Most of what I did on the Modular only used one slot, though sometimes I used all four outputs in a single patch, which wouldn’t work on the Micro since it only has two.

no midi export for bounce?
Each track can send MIDI, so you can record it to a DAW and then play it back while recording each individual track, if that's what you mean? I haven't tried it so I don't know if it'd be worth the effort, honestly.

Honestly I can’t remember how I patched this up haha. Reverb is coming from the MOOD, and TR06 allows for the stereo out to be split so some sounds come out the left channel and some out the right. That may be what’s happening with the snare.

I like that the Kick is tuned to a LOW 'A' by default. I am considering buying one but I hear they go out of tune very quickly if you are making basslines with lots of tail in the sound. Can anyone advise as to how bad the issue is for going out of tune? You have to shut off all sounds, but leave it on for 10 seconds and then it retunes itself I understand. Is it worth it for a solo artist who needs a good sequencer / drum machine with ambience settings?

Hi, thanks for watching! I'm not sure if I'll make any more of them in their current state, as the time taken to print them plus postage costs means they're not really financially viable. I'm working on a laser cut version but there are still a few things I need to iron out.

I've been watching tutorials on UA-cam for quite a while. This is the very first time I really enjoy what I'm watching and listening to and eventually learned something... I am so tired of people talking and talking, listening to their own voice. Even if they might say something interesting every now and then, it is unfortunately lost in that ocean of non stop blah, blah and at the end of the day, I haven't learned anything. It's just a complete waste of time. THANK YOU and please do it again. I believe this is a tutorial as it should be.
Aw thanks for the nice words! I think there are merits to both kinds of video tutorials (e.g. sometimes a tutorial with talking can be better because you don't have to constantly watch the screen) but I definitely understand your frustration. I unfortunately don't have as much time to work on videos anymore, as I have work and uni to deal with for a while, but I may come back to them someday :)
What are you Controlling with mouse on the daw?
Switching between checking on the stream and reading/replying to comments. I don't think I had a DAW open for this one, but sometimes I do for recording.
Don't need control all when all you're controlling is a single track. :)

That's the "bias" input on the Tune, for transposing/octave control within the selected scale.

I come back to this video often to get inspiration with the Cycles, so thank you for that! I have another question (lol sorry!) at 1:14:45 you start adjusting the LFO (triangle wave) of the chord thats ringing out ,and seems as if you're somehow modulating the rate so that it slows down over time. Is that what's going on? I can't quite make out the screen but from what I can tell it's being sent to pitch. Can you explain whats going on to get that effect? I really like it :)
Hey! Thanks for coming back. The LFO is controlling the COLOR parameter for the chord, and the rate has been recorded into the sequencer as parameter locks. You can see me hit the live record button combination at around 1:15:58. Then I correct it a bit later :)
@@0Fdigital ohhh ok so you parameter lock the speed of the LFO so it’s slows down over some time? That’s a great way to get around not being able to directly modulate the LFOs speed huh? I have to play around with mine and see if I can achieve something similar! Thanks for the fast reply :)
Okay I just rewatched. Totally didn't realize you were recording that information into the sequence. Makes total sense now. I don't think I realized that the LFO speed could be p-locked like that. Really cool.
Is it possible to do an Interstellar remix only on the model:cycle, or would it be easier on the model:sampler, or on neither or the two ? I'm looking for a groovebox/sequencer-synth, which could do some cinematographic music, if you know something like that, let me know please
